  5. Note: The shaded menu items are inactive options for use with the
  6. additional modules. They have been left in situ to show the rage of
  7. features available for those who wish to upgrade. If you are running
  8. the program on a mono monitor these items are enclosed in brackets.
  9.  
  10. Creating a Chart.
  11. ------------------
  12. Select the 'New Chart' option from the Menu Bar and a data entry
  13. screen prompts for birth details of the Subject. Press the
  14. 'Space Bar' to continue.
  15.  
  16. 1. Enter the name of the person.
  17.  
  18. 2. Time and Place of birth is entered as HH.MM.Place Name^ The full
  19.    stop may be substituted as a space for ease of entry and this
  20.    applies to all subsequent entries. ( ^ is Return key.) Entry of the
  21.    Place Name is optional. If the Place Name is present it will be
  22.    displayed on screen. See also 'Save File' notes below.

  24. 3. Date is in the format DD.MM.YYYY^
  25.  
  26. 4. If Summertime was in effect for the above date enter as x^
  27.    else enter 0^. (See Summertime note below.)
  28.  
  29. 5. Zone Time is hours +/- Greenwich time. For the UK this entry will
  30.    be 00 Hrs. Entry is in the format xxE^ or W (East or West of
  31.    Greenwich). Half Hour Zones are supported by the program, enter
  32.    as (xx.5E or W) (See Zone Time note below.)
  33.  
  34. 6. Latitude is in the format xx.xxN^ or S. (Northern or Southern
  35.    Hemisphere.) See note below.
  36.  
  37. 7. Longitude is entered as xxx.xxE^ or W. (East or West of Greenwich)
  38.  
  39. 8. If you are satisfied with the information entered press 'Y' at
  40.    screen prompt. If you have made a mistake press 'N' and select the
  41.    line entry that you wish to change.
  42.  
  43. The birth chart will appear on the screen. The green inter-aspect
  44. lines at the centre of the screen show harmonious combinations, red
  45. inter-connecting lines are stressful aspects. The small coloured
  46. circles in the centre of the chart wheel show where any conjunction is
  47. operating and its nature: Green=Harmonious. Red=Stressful. Blue=Mixed
  48. quality.
  49.  
  50. Note: You may escape from any prompt line simply by pressing the
  51. RETURN KEY - You are also able to move through the prompt lines
  52. using this method without overwriting current data.
  53.  
  54. Summertime:
  55. If you need to check if Summertime was in force for the date selected
  56. enter a '?' at the Summertime prompt.
  57.  
  58. Latitude and Longitude:
  59. An on-line database containing some of the  main Cities and Towns in
  60. the World is supplied. Enter a '?' at the prompt and you will be asked
  61. for a place name. Usually you only need to enter the first three or
  62. four letters of the name. If the entry is in the file this will be
  63. shown on screen. The registered version contains over 4000 place
  64. names.
  65.  
  66. The index section of any good World Atlas gives geographical
  67. coordinates. Place names usually have the Latitude and longitude
  68. listed. Second hand bookshops are a good source of cheap Atlases.
  69. Extract the index section and throw the rest!
  70.  
  71. Time Zones:
  72. An on-line database is supplied listing most of the World
  73. Time Zones. Enter a '?' at the prompt and enter the first two letter
  74. of the Country you wish to check.
  75.  
  76. Note: All database files are in ASCII flat file format. They can be
  77. easily modified or added to using a word processor and saving the file
  78. back to disk in ASCII mode.

  81. *                         GENERAL INFORMATION                       *

  84. Boot Up
  85. ---------
  86. When Astro_22 is booted from workbench the program loads in a chart
  87. file from within the 'FILES/FAMILY' directory named 'USER'. This chart
  88. is then displayed on screen at start up.
  89.  
  90. The USER file can be reconfigured quite simply by saving your personal
  91. chart into the 'FAMILY & FRIENDS' folder using the filename 'USER'.
  92. When restarting the program this file will be installed as 'Resident
  93. Chart' and 'User Chart' for immediate use with the progression and
  94. aspect modules.
  95.  
  96. In operation three birth charts are in memory at all times and
  97. information is cross indexed between them for relevant calculations
  98. and inter aspects. The simplicity and effectiveness of this
  99. configuration becomes apparent with actual hands on use :-
  100.  
  101. Current Chart
  102. -----------------
  103. This is the present or working chart and can be recalled to screen
  104. after aspect or other calls by clicking this option from the menu.
  105.  
  106. Resident Chart
  107. ------------------
  108. This is the secondary chart used for comparisons with the current
  109. chart, or for progressions. The resident chart is used for all
  110. progression work and it is this chart that is progressed. To make a
  111. current file resident use the 'Make Current Resident' option from the
  112. menu.
  113.  
  114. User Chart
  115. --------------
  116. This is the personal chart loaded into the program at start up. This
  117. chart can be called at any time to be made resident or to be compared
  118. to a current resident chart.
  119.  
  120. Load Files
  121. -----------
  122. A selection of demonstration charts are on disk. These files are
  123. stored under different headings for ease of retrieval. Use the mouse
  124. or double arrow key/arrow keys to select entries.
  125.  
  126. Save File
  127. ----------
  128. This selection allows charts to be saved to disk for easy retrieval.
  129. If the location name is present (Optional) the program checks the
  130. 'Lat_Long' database and this is updated with the current geographical
  131. data - if not already present.
  132.  
  133. Delete File
  134. ------------
  135. Unwanted data files may be erased from disk with this option.
  136.  
  137. Noon GMT
  138. -----------
  139. This selection prompts for a date which generates a chart for Noon GMT
  140. Greenwich against the date entered. This option is a short cut to
  141. obtaining a general date for transits without having to use the full
  142. 'New Chart' menu.
  143.  
  144. Real Time
  145. ----------
  146. This option takes the date and time from the computer's system clock
  147. and creates a screen chart for the real moment in time.
  148. In the unregistered version the calculation is for GMT Greenwich.
  149. In the registered version the geographical data is taken from the
  150. user chart: For example if the User Location is New York the
  151. chart will be created for this location in real time and compensation
  152. is made for daylight saving time as set by the 'Summer Time Option'.
  153.  
  154. Change System Date/Time
  155. --------------------------
  156. Allows the user to change the computers system's Time and Date for use
  157. with the 'Real Time Mode'. Also useful for Progressions when a special
  158. date is being studied.
  159.  
  160. Summer Time
  161. ------------
  162. If Summertime is set the program compensates for the time difference
  163. in 'Real Time' mode.
  164.  
  165. Call MSDOS
  166. -----------
  167. Selecting the 'Call MSDOS' runs the operating system and allows work
  168. to be carried out in normal MSDOS mode. Enter 'exit' to return to
  169. Astro.22.
  170.  
  171. 1. Active Planets
  172. ------------------
  173. These are the main planets as shown in the chart wheel and are always
  174. associated with the current chart. To deactivate a planet click the
  175. relevant planet from the list presented.
  176.  
  177. When planets are de-selected the program ignores them entirely, they
  178. are not calculated, shown on screen nor are they available for aspect
  179. checking or any other work.
  180.  
  181. The ability to de-select planets makes it easier to evaluate selective
  182. information. One example is the calculation of a Progressed chart with
  183. the intention of comparing it to the Natal pattern. In this system
  184. the relative motion of the outer planets is such that any Natal
  185. aspects are in orb for most of the subjects life and are therefore
  186. superfluous for predictive use. It is desirable therefore to have the
  187. planets Jupiter through Pluto deactivated. Thus ensuring that the
  188. screen, printer or disk file is not cluttered with unwanted text and
  189. data.
  190.  
  191. 2. Aspected Planets
  192. --------------------
  193. This option relates only to ASPECTS. The active planets may be viewed
  194. as the principle, dominant and active group whereas the aspected
  195. planets are the  passive, receptive group.
  196.  
  197. A de-selected Aspected Planet is no longer available for aspect
  198. analysis and is totally ignored by the program when inter-aspects or
  199. comparative aspects are calculated.
  200.  
  201. In comparison work the 'Current Chart' planets are the active category
  202. and the 'Resident Chart' planets are the passive category. If, for
  203. instance, in a transit search you wished to compile a file showing
  204. aspects only to your Natal Sun. Then all 'Aspected Planets' except for
  205. the Sun should be disabled by de-selection.
  206.  
  207. 3. Active Aspects
  208. ------------------
  209. In this current version of Astro_22 sixteen different aspect patterns
  210. are available to the user. Highly desirable when analysing a Natal
  211. Chart, however is general work only the major aspects are required.
  212. When all sixteen types are active the mind is overwhelmed by
  213. having so much information on screen, especially when reading off
  214. tabulated aspects. Therefore, de-activate all aspect types
  215. that are not required.
  216.  
  217. A quick method of turning off/on minor aspects is available from the
  218. 'MISC' menu.
  219.  
  220. Reset to Default
  221. -----------------
  222. If many changes were made in the above options then use this menu item
  223. to instantly reset all flags to the default values. This saves the
  224. trouble of activating disabled items one by one.
  225.  
  226. Forward/Backward in Time
  227. -------------------------
  228. These options are mainly for demo use and the time interval is preset
  229. to one month. See the Modules Help File for more details.
  230.  
  231. Included in the Shareware version 3.5 are powerful aspect routines
  232. which display the current chart's aspect pattern in any of three modes
  233. - Tabulated, Grid or Graphic. See the Modules Help file for
  234. instructions regarding their use.

  258. REGISTRATION
  259. -------------
  260. Version 3.5 of Astro.22 is distributed as SHAREWARE and if you enjoy
  261. the program and wish to continue using it then you are obliged to
  262. register for a fee of £15.00. (Not required if you purchase modules to
  263. this amount.) If you also send in your original Shareware disk the
  264. most recent copy of the program will be sent.
